History
Known for its excellence in producing accessible, artist-forward platforms, Almanac Projects unveils Wild Horizon — a bold vision for Philadelphia that centers wonder, creative movement, and the freedom of play in public space.
After years of community conversations and ideation with direct input from artists, audiences members, and local presenters, Wild Horizon builds on a track record of Almanac-supported festivals including Fit Fest, Cannonball, and the recent the Philadelphia Contemporary Circus Festival, a partnership with Circadium and FringeArts.
Wild Horizon will launch as an incubation project in partnership with Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, Ninth Planet, and Rebel Arts Movement serving the Greater Philadelphia region with genre-defying live circus, theater, dance, and performances for young audiences.
Vision
Wild Horizon offers a glimpse of what American contemporary circus can become. A bright future awaits where a feeling of awe flourishes in public space, and the inherent joy of play can be found anywhere.
Philadelphia artists are poised to lead a charge that moves storytelling, hands-on learning, and engaging performances into shared space for young ones, families, and audiences of many kinds to enjoy over a weekend at Philadelphia's Cherry Street Pier.
Producing partners Almanac Projects, Ninth Planet, and Rebel Arts Movement have joined forces with Delaware River Waterfront Corporation to set a standard with Wild Horizon's inaugural year — with guest performances that include Australia's Stephen Noonan and Threshold, Markas and Marija Liberman (Lithuania) and WETUMTUM (Portugal), and many more.
The 2026 launch celebrates imagination and unexpected connections. Witness the takeover of Cherry Street Pier and Race Street Pier, urban ruins reimagined as places for creativity, during a weekend of wonderful journeys and fun performances fit for the whole family.
Looking ahead to 2027 and building over subsequent years, Wild Horizon will incorporate new sites and neighborhoods both in Philadelphia and Camden, bringing more big spectacle and human-sized moments within arm's reach.
